Q. How
much will I save using OEHB?
A. That
will depend upon which services you use. We offer a wide-variety of
savings in relocation, mortgage financing, and real estate services
that can amount to a substantial savings for you.
Time - We have coordinated a team of experts to
assist you.
Our
Home Mortgage
department offers a wide variety of loan packages designed
especially for educators through our partnership with some of the
best mortgage lenders in Oregon. Our partnerships require lenders
to give discounts to Oregon educators, and their family members.
These discounts can amount to a substantial savings on your loan.
On a typical mortgage these discounts will normally reach over
$1,000, and often much higher. We typically gather information and
pass it on to 2-3 lenders, who will then contact you. After that it
is up to you which lender you choose, based on which one you feel
offers you the best lending package.
Our
Relocation
department offers many discounts, including moving, car rental,
hotels and motels, and dining. We are constantly adding services
and discounts in many areas of the state, and in most cases, we can
tailor these services and discounts to your needs. Because we are
partnered with Prudential Real Estate Professionals, we have
the ability to relocate anyone to Oregon from anywhere in the world,
and therefore our services and discounts can add up to a substantial
amount, not to mention the peace of mind of having every detail of
your move taken care of for you.
In addition to the discounts and services listed
above, our
Partners
in Education program will contribute $100 in your name to
the school of your choice. This contribution is done at the closing
of your home purchase.
Q. Can
I use my own real estate agent or a different finance company?
A.
No, to receive our
complete package
of services and discounts, you would need to use Prudential Real
Estate Professionals for your home buying and selling, and one of the lenders that
we have partnered with. Using another real estate or mortgage
company would mean that we could not offer you our complete services
and discounts. To find out more, click on our
Next Steps
page. The OEHB Package included coordinated discounts through
specific providers.
Q. Are
there any fees charged for OEHB services?
A. Our
real estate
homebuying and many of our
mortgage
services are absolutely free. OEHB will never
charge you for our services. Our mortgage lending partners do make
money on their services they provide, but at a greatly discounted
price to Oregon educators.
Q. Do
I have to be a teacher?
A.
No. OEHB benefits are available to ALL school employees because we
believe that the term “educator” applies to all school employees -
from staff to teachers to administrators - and their immediate
families.
Q. What
if my credit isn’t that great?
A.
Almost everyone has a ding on his or her
credit. We understand student loans, and circumstances that result
in
credit
dings. In most cases our mortgage lending partners will be
able to find you loan package that will work, but in some cases we
might advise you to wait and show you how to be in a better position
to buy a home at a later date.
Q. Can
an OEHB agent show me any property available on the market?
A.
Absolutely! Your assigned agent can show (and
sell) you any property available in your area. Properties offered
by all real estate companies are listed on the Multiple
Listing Service (MLS) and can be sold by any licensed real estate agent. The only exception is For Sale By Owner (FSBO)
properties, but even with FSBOs, your agent can help you.
Q. Is
this program only for first time homebuyers?
A.
Absolutely not! We do have programs available for first time
buyers, but the majority of our programs are available to all
educators.
Q. What
if I don’t have money for a down payment?
A.
There are numerous
financing
programs that you may qualify for that don’t require any
downpayment. Some even require little or no closing costs out of
your pocket!
Q. Is
the program only available in the major cities in Oregon?
A.
No. We offer most of our services and
discounts to any educator, any place in Oregon.
Q. What
if I have a home to sell?
A.
Not a problem. Our
relocation department
can coordinate the sale of your existing home and the purchase of
your new home, as well as help you with discounts on moving,
inspections, and more.
Q. How
do I find out if I really can buy my own home?
A.
The first thing you need to do is
give us a call.
We’ll set up an appointment for you with the OEHB representative,
and they will guide you through the process from there.
Q.
Is OEHB a non-profit corporation?
A. No.
We are an Oregon corporation who has partnered with Prudential
Real Estate Professionals and various lenders.
